HCS Releases 1st Annual
Behavioral Health Salary & Benefits Report

Oakland, NJ, May 2017 – The 1st annual Behavioral Health Salary & Benefits Report, published by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS) has just been released.  82.02% of participants were not-for-profit facilities; 17.98% reporting were for-profit facilities.  58.43% of participants were hospital-based; 23.60% reported data for residential treatment facilities. The primary patient/client focus reported was adult care at 93.26%; geriatric care was 74.16%; adolescents 69.66%; and children 68.54%. 

The results cover community-based and residential treatment services.  40.45% of community-based respondents offered AoD/Substance Abuse individual/group therapy compared to 26.97% of residential treatments facilities.

The national average hourly rate for Behavioral Health Program Directors was $43.82; the 50th percentile was $41.79.  The average bonus reported for Program Directors was 7.53% of the annual salary.  19.10% of participants reported bonus data for behavioral health employees.

2017 Behavioral Health Salary & Benefits Report, national hourly data

89 behavioral health facilities participated in the 1st annual study.  The results include hourly and bonus data for 47 jobs.  The Report also includes 12 fringe benefits, turnover rates by department, caseload, and projected salary increases by department for 2016 and 2017.
