Nursing Home PT Rates Increase in 2008
Oakland, NJ, July 25--The national median hourly rate for Physical Therapists in Nursing Homes is $36.50, according to the thirty-first annual Nursing Home Salary and Benefits Report, just published by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS). A comparison of same facility participants showed that PT rates increased 6.75% in those facilities that participated in both the 2007 and 2008 studies. Comparatively, Physical Therapists in CCRCs received a national median hourly rate of $36.76. The Director of Therapy/Rehabilitation salary increased 4.46% in 2008 to $81,412 in same facility participants.

2,135 Nursing Homes participated in the study and provided compensation data on 165,913+ employees nationwide. 1,721 for-profit and 414 not-for-profit homes provided data. The Report covers 42 management and 41 nonmanagement positions. Data are reported according to revenue size, bed-size, profit status, geographic region, state, and city. Also covered are 22 fringe benefits, turnover rates by department, and projected salary increases for 2008 to 2009. Data are effective as of May 2008. The Report is published in cooperation with the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) and supported by the American Health Care Association (AHCA).
