Oakland, NJ, October 2008--The national average hourly rate of home health RNs increased 3.50% to $27.26, according to the 18th annual HOMECARE Salary & Benefits Report, just published by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS). The national average hourly rate for home health LPNs increased 1.50% to $19.48. The increase represents agencies that participated in both the 2007 and 2008 studies.

The annual turnover rate reported for RNs decreased slightly from the 2007 figure of 22.44% to 22.36%. The annual turnover rate for LPNs also decreased, going from 24.26% in 2007 to 22.97% in 2008.

1,651 home care agencies and hospices participated in the study and provided compensation data on more than 109,051 employees nationwide. The complete 292-page Report contains 62 jobs reporting on salaries, bonuses, and hourly & per visit rates. Data are reported by state, principal city, 9 regions, nationally, according to 5 agency types and 3 revenue sizes. Also included are 22 fringe benefits, planned percent increases, turnover rates, and personnel policies.
