Homecare Salary & Benefits Study Reveals Increase in RN Base Pay
Oakland, NJ, October 2011--The national average hourly rate of RNs increased 1.56%, according to the 21st annual HOMECARE Salary & Benefits Report, just published by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS). The Report is published in cooperation with the National Association for Home Care & Hospice. The increase represents agencies that participated in both the 2010 and 2011 compensation studies. Increases are trending slightly upwards from the 2010 actual increase of 1.24%. The average planned percent increase for RNs reported for 2012 was 2.53%.

The annual turnover rate reported for RNs continued to decrease. The turnover rate for RNs in 2009 was 21.32%, 20.76% in 2010 and declined to 19.06% in 2011. (Turnover rate is the number of times, on average; an agency replaced a position in one year. Turnover does not include hiring for new or increased positions. Excludes employees terminated during their probationary period.)
1,808 home care agencies and hospices participated in the study and provided compensation data on more than 88,600+ employees nationwide. The complete 272-page Report contains 64 jobs reporting on salaries, bonuses, and hourly & per visit rates. Data are reported by state, county, nine geographic regions, nationally, and according to agency type and revenue size. Also included are 18 fringe benefits, planned percent increases, turnover rates, and personnel policies.
