Homecare Salary & Benefits Study Reveals Increase in HCA Base Pay

Oakland, NJ, October 2010--The national average hourly rate of Home Care Aides (HCAs) increased     2.39% to $12.77, according to the 20th annual HOMECARE Salary & Benefits Report, just published by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS).  The increase represents agencies that participated in both the 2009 and 2010 compensation studies.

The annual turnover rate reported for HCAs decreased from the 2009 figure of 24.51% to 20.69%. Average caseload for HCAs positions averaged 13.72 in 2010, compared to 13.63 in 2009. (Average caseload represents the average number of patients assigned to a particular employee at any given time.  The data reported above refer to caseload, not case management.)

1,792 home care agencies and hospices participated in the study and provided compensation data on more than 78,180 employees nationwide.  The complete 276-page Report contains 64 jobs reporting on salaries, bonuses, and hourly & per visit rates.  Data are reported by state, county, nine geographic regions, nationally, and according to agency type and revenue size.  Also included are 20 fringe benefits, planned percent increases, turnover rates, and personnel policies.
