Assisted Living LPNs Show Hourly Increase

Oakland, NJ, January 2010 -- The national median hourly rate of Assisted Living LPNs is $19.36 according to the 12th annual Assisted Living Salary & Benefits Report, just published by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS).  The percent increase was 1.68% for LPNs in facilities reporting data from both the 2008 and 2009 Reports.  The Report is published in cooperation with the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and supported by the National Center for Assisted Living.

Turnover rates for LPNs showed a marked decrease, dropping 8.32% over the previous year. Vacancy rates also fell 1.20%.  The table below illustrates the difference in turnover and vacancy rates:

1,377 Assisted Living facilities participated in the study and provided compensation data on more than 58,700 employees nationwide.  1,254 for-profit and 123 not-for-profit facilities provided data for the study.   

The Report covers 16 management and 24 nonmanagement positions.  Data are reported according to for‑profit and not-for-profit status, revenue size, unit-size, state, county, and geographic region.  Also covered are 22 fringe benefits, turnover rates by department, and projected salary increases for 2010.  Data are effective as of October 2009.
